Most online dating services offer some form of profile search feature. This search feature will allow you to find profiles based upon various factors such as location, age, religion, height, weight/build, education, or income/profession. Some online dating websites offer a search feature that uses keywords you select.
When searching by keyword, think carefully about what words best describe the kind of person you are looking for. What words would that person use in their profile to describe who they are and whom they are seeking? Do the words describe their personality or their interests? Pull out a thesaurus (or use a free online thesaurus such as Thesaurus.com) and try various words that mean the same thing in your searches.
For example, someone who is “spontaneous” might instead use the word “free”, “impulsive”, “casual”, “relaxed”, or “unrestrained”. Running several searches using synonyms will likely garner the best results.
If the site allows searches to be saved, be sure to save and accurately label all searches that you feel had the most accurate results. The results in your searches will change over time as new members join the online dating site and other members leave. Saving your best search criteria will make the search process faster, allowing you more time to flirt and play rather than be typing and searching.
If the online dating website you are on has a search feature that allows for keyword searches, make sure to use great keywords in your own profile so that you may generate more traffic. Again, pull out the thesaurus in order to use several synonyms in your own profile. This can increase the number of profile views you receive.
Unlike traditional keyword usage in web pages, keywords in profiles generally only need to be used one time in order to show up in an onsite keyword search.
