Yesterday, Internet Business Law published an article, “INTERNET LAW - Does IMBRA Exclusively Regulate Online Dating Sites and Protect Online-Dating U.S. Citizen Brides?”

The article addresses the question as to whether The International Marriage Broker Regulation Act of 2005 (IMBR) regulates online dating websites or protects brides with U.S. citizenship.

Though the IMBR was designed to offer some protection from abuse to immigrant women who become brides through the use of marriage brokers, it does not clearly offer protection to international brides with U.S. citizenship, nor to brides who use online dating website services. That is a bit of a gray area in the act.

Now the question becomes whether the act should be modified to address the growing popularity of online dating websites, and if international brides of U.S. citizenship should more clearly be protected in the act.

Today’s Question: What are your thoughts, feelings, and beliefs about an international act protecting women from abuse who become international brides through the services of online dating websites?
